How To Find Us

We are open every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9-12, with local photo archives, Library, and genealogical research.

Through the generous 1989 gift of the artist Edmond DeLavy (1916-1989), the Sandoval County Historical Society has the DeLavy House as a meeting space and home for our extensive archives. Most of our programs are held at DeLavy House.

The DeLavy House is located at 161 Homestead Lane (formerly 151 Edmond Road) in Bernalillo, NM 87004, on the north side of US 550. It lies west of the Rio Grande between the Santa Ana Star Casino on the west and the road to Coronado State Monument on the east; see the map of the surrounding area.

If you are driving from Placitas, I-25 or the town of Bernalillo, you will  travel east-to-west on US 550. You  drive across the Rio Grande  past the entrance to Coronado State Monument. There is an intersection with traffic light at Homestead Lane (the Phillips 66/Warrior Plaza gas station/convenience store ison the right of the road);  At the light, turn right onto a gravel road and follow it until you see the sign “Sandoval County Historical Society” on your right.

If you are driving from Rio Rancho or the west side of Albuquerque, you will be driving west-to-east on US 550. Just past the Santa Ana Casino and before the Phillips 66/Warrior Plaza gas station/convenience store on the north (left side) of US 550; see photo to right, there is an intersection with traffic light for Homestead Lane. (In the photo on the upper left, the entrance to Coronado State Monument is faintly visible; if you pass it, you have gone too far east.) Turn left onto Homestead Lane which is a gravel road.  Follow the gravel road until you see the sign that says “Sandoval County Historical Society” on your right. Turn into the driveway to the DeLavy House.
